The Environmental Resource Center is a non-profit (501c3) membership organization dedicated to serving the Wood River Valley by promoting a more sustainable environment through community education, awareness and participation.
Our summer programs for kids include four overnight camps (EcoCamps)in July and August, held at the Central Idaho 4H Camp. These are CSI EcoCamp, Liquid Life, and Charting the Unknown for rising grades 4-6 and Wild Art (in partnership with the Sun Valley Center for the Arts) for rising grades 7-9. ERC also offers free day camps in partnership with the Hunger Coalition (Wild Lunch)and the Sun Valley Summer Symphony (Wild Notes). We also have the popular Shooting Star Sleep-out slated for August 13 during the Perseid Meteors. Galena Lodge is a community owned lodge located 30 minutes North of Ketchum, Idaho. Galena Lodge is owned by the BCRD and operated by Erin Zell and Don Shepler as both a winter and summer escape. Galena Youth Adventure Camp is a weekly summer outdoor discovery and adventure program for youth ages 6-12. This program offers lifelong skills through action-based adventures and emphasizes fun, safety, and respect for the outdoors and each other. Camp runs weekly from June 14-August 20 and is a day camp Monday through Friday. Activities include horseback riding, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, hiking, orienteering, kayaking, swimming, stream ecology and leave no trace skills.

Summer is closer than you think, so now is the opportune time to start planning out your activities! Have your kids come to the Sawtooth Botanical Garden to have a wonderful time playing outside while learning valuable garden-based lessons during our Summer Garden Camps. We are offering three themed sessions running throughout June, July and August. There are six classes in a session held on Mondays and Wednesdays @ 9:30am-12:30pm. June’s session titled, “Flower Power,” will run from June 14-30 and will focus on soil, seeds, the anatomy of flowers and the life cycle of plants. During “Pollination-It’s the Buzz!” from July 12-28, your nature enthusiasts will explore the science of pollination. This weekend, the hubby and I went on a double date to Ketchum's lastest and greatest restaurant---Sego. We dropped the kids off at the monthly YMCA's Saturday Sitters and enjoyed the next 3 hours of adult time.
We have heard mixed reviews about Sego, so I was ready to experience it all and form my own opinion. We arrived at around 6:30 and the restaurant had about 5 other couples there. Apparently, we beat the rush. We were greeted promptly by several people--one to take our coats, one to pour our wine, one to pour our water and our waitress to tell us about the specials. So far so good! As of last night, Sego had not received their liquor license, but they were hoping that this is the week. For the mean time, they charge a $15 cork fee per bottle.
