Northwest Youth Corp At Work In Greenhorn

It was my good fortune to get a chance to work with a crew from the Northwest Youth Corp in Greenhorn Gulch on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Northwest Youth Corp is a program that combines outdoor work, adventure, and education for 14 to 19 year olds. Several more NYC crews are scheduled to work in our area over the course of the early summer. The work sessions for the crews typically last for five weeks.

The outfit in Greenhorn is working on trail reroutes and trail maintenance as part of the repair work being carried out by the Ketchum Ranger District on portions of the forest impacted by the Castle Rock Fire. The team consists of eight crew members, two crew leaders, and a crew boss.

The high spirits and excellent work ethic this team brought to the tasks at hand made it a pleasure to work along side them.

On behalf of all of the dirt trail enthusiasts in the Wood River Valley, thank you NYC for all of your great work on our local trails, and best wishes on all your adventures and endeavors!
