Sturtos and The Perch Roll ‘Em Out

Two great local bike shops are unveiling their 2008 line of bicycles today, Thursday, March 27th.
Sturtos (Main Street, Ketchum, 726-4512, www.sturtos.com) is hosting their Mud, Sweat, and Gears event from 2 to 6 p.m. to preview the new line of Scott carbon bikes and the new lineups from Santa Cruz, Orbea, Nirve, Raleigh, and Rocky Mountain. They will be offering discounts on preseason bike orders and deals on clothing accessories and gear. In addition you’ll find 1-day specials, swag, door prizes, 20% off on all Yakima sports racks and cargo boxes. Bike Gurus from Scott, Orbea, and Santa Cruz will be on hand to answer your questions. The folks at Sturtevants will be cooking brats on the barbie and Fat Tire Ale will be on tap - yum - and proceeds from the food and drink will benefit Big Wood Backcountry Trails!
The Elephant’s Perch (280 East Ave, Ketchum, 726-3497, www.elephantsperch.com) will be strutting their stuff all day long Thursday (from 9 a.m. ’til 6 p.m.) at their 2008 Bicycle Preview and 1-Day Cycling Sale. They will have special pricing on new bikes and great prices on accessories. It’s Thursday only - so don’t miss it. This event features wicked light road bikes and cutting edge mountain bikes from Specialized and Ibis. Specialized rep Byron “Iron Legs” Kosick will be on hand to fill you in on the hot bikes Specialized has featured in their 2008 line-up.Personally, I love these shops for all kinds of reasons, not least of which is how they give, and give, and give, back to our community, and hey, they are incredibly generous to a group I’m rather fond of myself - BWBT. I also dig the heck out of the service they always provide and the friendly atmosphere I feel when I walk in the door. These guys know how to treat a customer. So, if your looking for a new bike this season, need some accessories at a great price, or just feel like shooting the breeze about biking, don’t miss these events.
